Our History

Brown Fence Company is now a fifth-generation family-owned company. We are the oldest fence company in the Chattanooga area, in business for 138 years. In 2021, Joseph Brown and his son Joey Brown, the previous owners and incredible salesman passed away. The company is still in the Brown Family and they are focused on securing the community one fence at a time.

We opened the original location near the Patten Hotel in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 1886, where we sold fence parts and focused on blacksmith work. The teenage Brown brothers worked during World War II while the older men were drafted. This allowed Brown Fence Company to beat the odds and thrive during challenging times.

The company’s focus has shifted a little in the last 130 years. We now focus and specialize in professional Fence Installation, Repairs, Materials, and Custom Gates.
